Environmental Policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026

Version 1.0, effective 22 October 2026. Owner: Lucas Pradel. Reviewed at least once a year.

This policy applies to CARIBID LLC, trading as MotionInk ("MotionInk"), and to its owner, staff, contractors and subcontractors. MotionInk is a small studio that builds software and AI systems and delivers digital analytics remotely. Our main environmental effects come from the cloud services and AI models we use and from the equipment we use, so that is where this policy acts. It follows the environmental principles of the United Nations Supplier Code of Conduct.

1. Commitments

1.1 We comply with the environmental laws that apply to us and to our work.

1.2 We aim to keep our footprint as small as the work allows, and we do not make environmental claims we cannot support.

2. How we work

2.1 Remote first: we work remotely and do not run our own offices, data centres or vehicle fleet. We avoid travel when a call will do, and we ask a client's approval before any trip.

2.2 Cloud efficiency: we right-size servers, databases and storage to real use, and we choose managed services and autoscaling over capacity that sits idle.

2.3 Non-production environments: we switch off or scale down development, test and preview environments when they are not in use, and delete those no longer needed.

2.4 Regions and providers: where a choice exists and performance, cost and data-residency rules allow it, we prefer regions and providers that publish their energy and carbon data.

2.5 Data: we keep only the data and logs we need and delete the rest on schedule, as our Information Security and Data Protection Policy sets out, because stored data has a footprint too.

3. Artificial intelligence and compute

3.1 We use AI where it solves a real problem, not by default.

3.2 We choose the smallest model that does the job well, use caching and batching to avoid repeated calls, and limit long prompts and runs.

3.3 We test changes on small sets before running large evaluations, and we do not run large training or evaluation jobs without a purpose.

3.4 We do not train models on client data.

4. Equipment and waste

4.1 We use equipment for as long as it is safe and useful, repair it where we can, and buy only what we need.

4.2 When equipment leaves use, we reuse it, donate it, or hand it to a certified electronic-waste collection or take-back scheme, and we wipe its data first.

4.3 We prefer digital documents and do not print unless a client or the law requires it.

5. Suppliers

5.1 We ask our main suppliers about their environmental commitments and prefer those that publish them. We expect subcontractors to follow this policy.

6. Measuring and reporting

6.1 Once a year the owner reviews these indicators and records them: the number of non-production environments left running outside use, cloud and AI spending and use compared with the year before, and the equipment reused, recycled or collected.

6.2 We set one or two improvement targets from that review, and tell a client what we do when its contract asks for it.

6.3 We do not claim to be carbon neutral or certified unless we have verified evidence.

7. Responsibility and review

7.1 The owner is responsible for this policy. Anyone who works for MotionInk is expected to follow it and to suggest improvements.

7.2 Anyone may raise an environmental concern about our work by writing to lucas@motionink.ai or hello@motionink.ai. If it involves the owner or a client engagement, they may go straight to the client's own ethics or integrity office or, for work with the United Nations, to the Office of Internal Audit and Investigations of UNICEF, through the channels published on unicef.org.

7.3 The owner reviews this policy at least once a year and records the review.
